In Melbourne, Croft highlighted Piastri’s rapid development in just his third F1 season, noting that his upward trajectory makes him the favorite to win the title this year.
He remarked, “If you press me, Oscar is the guy I think will be a world champion at the end of this year because of how he’s improved and how he pushed Lando, who’s had more seasons, so narrowly last year.” Croft pointed to a challenging six-race stretch from Baku onward last year, suggesting Piastri learned to adapt to lower-grip circuits and still secure strong results, a capability he believes will serve him well in 2026.
