Adama Traore: West Ham Signs Fulham Winger in £2m Deal
West Ham has bolstered its attacking lineup by signing winger Adama Traore from Fulham in a deal worth up to £2 million. The 30-year-old Traore, a Spain international, joins the east London club on a short-term contract, running until the end of the season with an option for an additional year.
Traore's move to West Ham is a reunion with Nuno Espirito Santo, his former manager at Wolves. Despite being a regular in Spain's national team, Traore has had a challenging season with Fulham, starting just two Premier League matches and not featuring in their recent victory over Brighton. His last appearance for Fulham was in the FA Cup, where they secured a 3-1 win against Middlesbrough.
"I'm thrilled to be here and eager to contribute to the team's success," Traore expressed. "My mindset is to continuously improve and help the team in any way I can. I believe that if I'm not better than yesterday, I'm wasting a day. I thrive on challenges, and we will approach each game with determination, striving to give our best."
Traore's professional journey began at Barcelona, where he later moved to Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, and Wolves before joining Fulham in 2023 on a free transfer. West Ham's recent transfer activity includes significant signings like Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente and Taty Castellanos from Lazio, while they are also in talks to sell midfielder Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo. The club's busy January transfer window comes at a critical time, with West Ham still in the relegation zone, needing to improve their 20 points and five-point deficit from safety to secure their Premier League status.
